Jeep Safari - Crete excursion

Jeep Safari

Mountain villages, dirt tracks and the Crete tourists never see

Full day, 8-9 hours Central & western CreteFrom90 / per person

The Jeep Safari is the fastest way to understand why Cretans say the real island begins where the asphalt ends. You climb from the coast into villages where the bakery still fires a wood oven, cross plateaus grazed by sheep with bells, and stop at viewpoints no tour bus can reach.

Groups stay small, the pace is unhurried, and the guide is a local who will stop the convoy because the light on a gorge is worth ten minutes of your day.

The classic routes on Crete run either east to the Lasithi Plateau and the Zeus Cave, or south towards Sarakina and the Kourtaliotiko gorges - we match the route to the weather and to how much walking you want.

Getting around

Frequently asked questions

Is the Jeep Safari suitable for children?

Yes. Families join every week. Very young children may find the dirt tracks bumpy over a full day - tell us their ages and we will advise honestly.

Do I drive the Jeep myself?

No. An experienced local driver handles the off-road sections so you can enjoy the scenery.

Can I do this with my rental car instead?

No. Rental agreements in Crete, including ours, forbid unsealed roads. That is exactly why the Jeep Safari exists.

What if the weather is bad?

Mountain routes are weather-dependent. If conditions are unsafe we move you to another date or refund in full.
